If you needed any proof that a smaller property can be flamboyant and fabulous rather than 'cosy' then look no further. Ed O'Donnell, partner at award winning interior design agency Angel O’Donnell, has transformed a 10ft-wide London townhouse with his husband JP Banks into a stunning and spacious feeling home. They used our beautiful St Pancras Vintage Parquet flooring throughout the ground floor.

The narrow dimensions of this property posed an obvious challenge, but there was also the fact that the house had no original features left, so the interior design had to add character as well as creating a home that its owners loved and wanted to spend time in.

The flooring was an incredibly important part of the project as Ed explained. “We wanted to make a narrow house seem wider and have a floor that would work with underfloor heating. It was also going to run through into the kitchen/dining area from the living area, so needed to be durable. We wanted a floor that wouldn't show damage easily - we often have friends over for dinner parties and we didn't want anyone to have to take off their heels! We chose to work with Broadleaf because of your incredible knowledge about the product and also the quality was incredible for the price.”

St Pancras Pullman Vintage Parquet, met all of the design criteria, creating a beautiful, durable, feature floor that looked like an original feature unearthed from years of neglect. Although it is made from solid oak, it is fully compatible with underfloor heating and laid in a classic herringbone design it also visually opens up the space to make it seem more generous.

We think that the floor looks stunning, but obviously the important thing is what Ed and JP think – their verdict “We love it - in fact it is one of our favourite things in the house”.
