Originally used outside instead of stone cobbles to reduce the noise of carriages, end grain timber has long been known for its strength and durability. But we have chosen it for its stunning good looks. Cutting through the tree shows off perfectly the wonderful natural geometry of the wood grain and is this rather than the pattern of the blocks themselves that our contemporary parquet floors are all about.
