• Parquet Blocks must be glue fitted to a level surface
• A parquet floor is much less forgiving than a plank floor of discrepancies in fitting and sanding so we would recommend that parquet blocks are fitted by a professional or other experienced individual.
• After fitting, parquet blocks will need to be filled (there are no open knots but this will fill the hairline gaps between the boards to create the characteristic 'ice-rink smooth' finish).
• Parquet Blocks will need to be belt sanded before finishing. Ideally, we would suggest that a upright continuous belt sander (not a disc or flat bed sander) A hand held belt sander may be used but this is much more labour intensive and may be less effective depending on the sub-floor. Use 60 and then 80 grit paper.
• They will then need a finishing sand using a triple disc sander or a hand held belt sander with 120/ 140 grit paper.
• Parquet floors should be finishing a traditional hardwax oil finish (undercoated with OS Thin Oil if Maple Blocks are used) or a suitable lacquer which will offer Matt, Satin Matt or Gloss options.
• Parquet Blocks are suitable for use over underfloor heating but should be fully acclimatised before fitting.
