Skirting Board finishes at the doorway and is married to the architrave with a plinth block. Broadleaf solid oak skirting comes in 125mm and 170mm in either Chamfer or Ogee profile. No single piece is above 3m, so running mitres may be required on long walls. Unlike softwood or MDF, oak skirting cannot be glue fixed - it must be fitted using rawl plugs and screws covered with plugs. Oak skirting may contain knots which will require filling and sanding after fitting if there are not cut out as part of the wastage. |
A Door Liner is the basis of an internal door frame. Broadleaf door liners are made from 28mm solid oak, side by side laminated for stability. They are available in a choice of Cottage (more rustic) or Elegance (less rustic) grades and and are un-notched (to be cut in situ). Notched liners can be made if required as long as exact measurements are available. Door liners should be fixed using rawl plugs and screws which can be covered either with plugs or the slamming strip (if positioned correctly) |

Architrave is designed to cover the join between the wall and door frame. It is usually set 1/4" or so back from the edge of the door liner. Broadleaf Architrave is available in Chamfer or Ogee profiles and is 72mm wide. A single set comprises 2 uprights of 2100mm and a head for a single doorway. The corners should be mitred. |
The Plinth Block marries skirting to architrave. Broadleaf offer a simple square edged or a more formal chamfered plinth block in a choice 125mm or 170mm as standard. Other dimensions can be made to measure if required. Smaller plinth blocks can be fixed with suitable adhesive, but we recommend that larger ones be fixed using screws and plugs. |
